    Disco II Vibration

I have just recently developed a vibration in my DII it is noticable at 70k and under excelleration then dissapears until just over 100kph and then gets worse from there on, it has a new rebuilt front shaft and a relatively new rear.

It is felt through the car seat not the steering wheel.

I have a 3" lift with knackered shocks

I noticed a spiral scrape mark on my rear shaft.

    Baz.
    Cheers Baz.

The rear driveshaft may be bent - happened to me late last year when I was winched over a big rock which bent the rear drive shaft ever so slightly but enough to put a wobble in it....

I reckon that could be the problem......once the shaft finds the right resonance, she vibrates. If it is marked or bent than I would be looking to change it as lots can go wrong if it lets go completely!!

if you have a CDL fitted remove the driveshaft then go for a drive if the vibration disappears then the drive shaft maybe the culprit, also check the rubber driveshaft donut it might be stuffed and that can cause the vibration as well and if you do take the drive shaft off put the nuts back on to hold the park brake drum on
disco seriesII mods so far:-bullbar,hyd winch,
detriot locker, lsd front,C.D.L kit, chipped and bigger intercooler,2" lift, rock sliders, lsd in transfer case, modified auto trans.

I don't have the Rotoflex anymore, i have the D1 rear shaft as i have a Maxi drive locker and axles.

Going for a drive on the front shaft will happen soon as i can, i'm searching for other ideas on what it maybe before i do this.

I'd bet its the rear shaft also. If its not dented, then check the balance weights have not been knocked off.
