Whoever said gunk, crikey there's a layer of it sitting in the bottom of the reservoir. Which means it'll be in the m cyl, too, no doubt.

That was the case for my RR. Believe me, if I could have done it the easy way, I would have!![]()
The reservoir came of with some gentle persuasion, i wiggled it back and forth and bingo! The rear (closer to firewall) of the two rubbers is split underneath and rotten around lower hole that attaches to a tube. New parts are here, but there's a slight problem. I've got to get the plastic tube into the rubber, fiddle, fiddle...then I should be going, or stopping.
I'll take a pic or two of the job if anyone is interested.

what seals are you talking exactly, if its the 2 between the resevoir and the master cylinder there is no need to do any more than simply lift of the resevoir, if you have trouble getting the rear seal on because of the little plastic bit sticking out the answer is posted above....Originally Posted by BigJon

A quick summary, i hope the pix match up.
The reservoir came off easily.
The old rubbers melted when bathed in petrol.
The reservoir was cleaned out with petrol, air hose, water hose, rag, special home made tool (bent screwdriver) and new brake fluid. (and dried out thoroughly).
BigJon: I installed the rear rubber first and lifted the plastic tube (a few mms) with an allen key, enough to make it guide into the new rubber. The round front rubber slid on no probs.
Rubbers were liberally coated in new brake fluid, (hence more bubbles in outer paint, oh well).
Once the rubbers were seated into the master cylinder i gently pushed the reservoir into position.
Reservoir filled with a type of fluid i haven't seen before (it's nearly clear and doesn't smell).
Nothing leaking.....
I owe you guys a beer, thanks, have one on me and I'll give the zacs to our strapped site owner (Mr Blears) who deserves as much for keeping us....
