I don't think they'll mod it due to the fact it was made in the millions in some factory down town. It may be cheaper to get one built to meet your special requirements. Or get a dog guard from LR

I inquired about one and the price I was quoted was $65 made by milford via opposite lock.

Thanks Dobbo - I've enquired and it turns out getting one custom made is tough, but getting an existing one modified (corner cut out and made good) might be OK. Don't know the price yet, don't know if it can be squeezed around the gas tank or not.

The cargo barriers are not rated as such but have saved people in roll over situations. The strength might be compromised by cutting corners so to speak.

A dog guard is just for the top area of the vehicle (above the seats). They are not secured as well as the cargo barrier is so may not save you from luggage and stuff coming forward.

Shop around. Places like Opposite Lock & ARB almost always turn out more expensive than some of the smaller retailers. I saved over $100 on the price of the cargo barrier through Roof Rack City in Adelaide compared to ARB.

Just go with a perspex one the cargo barrier will protect you anyway. Yes it would work.
You have obviously never been in an accident where the cargo barrier has saved your life. Just imagine thousands of bits of plastic shard breaking off. You want to make sure that the plastic used does not simply shatter and enter the passenger area.

As for modifying the barrier - it is a certified engineered safety device. Thus if you modify it at all you must get it recertified! I would suggest contacting Milford directly as they may be able to help you. Also do not remove the tag from the Milford barrier as this is the compliance plate so to speak.

Milford are a really great company to deal with and I know first hand how good their barriers are. Why? Because it saved my life when I rolled my Disco. The structual integrity of the barrier was amazing and also the fact that the equipment behind didn't enter the passanger area. Every wagon (without the 2nd row rear seats used) should have a cargo barrier fitted.

    Thanks for the info Paul,
I only put that price in as a guide as to what the orignal screen might cost. I think getting one made would cost a lot more than that.

    Thanks
