    MIA - Mud Flaps!

MIA between Sydney and Perth, 2x rear mud flaps...

I was wondering if I should just go back to LR and get a new set from them, or go aftermarket (Do they have the usual LR weird mounts)?

Does anyone know how much these things are going to cost me ?

    Thanks in advance!

Go back & have a look for them. It ain't far.

Maybe the nuts & bolts were loose-ish to start with? I don't think they normally would come adrift on the black stuff.

    Don't laugh!

.....for the price of LR Genuine you might want to get out your calculator and see if cost of fuel, accommodation, loss of earnings while away looking, incidentals etc exceeds cost of replacement!!

BTW.....check out this US website called www.expeditionexchange.com - it's got some gear you can dream about.....big + small......some of it I've been able to buy in SYD [not from them though]

Both my rears fell off within a 100kms of the dealer when I picked it up (new), but they reckoned they dont touch them during predelivery, go figure.

same thing has happened to me, except they kinda ripped off.

i got new from graham cooper for $25 each (plus $12 freight to the goldy). They don't say landrover, but they are basically the same and I just bolted them on the existing bracket.

Yeah mine ripped as well.. I still have the mounts etc ... so I think I will just go get some from a 4wd shop (not tell them its for a RL so I do not get the RL tax) and bolt them on!

    Thanks for the replys!

Maybe we should get together all the AULRO members to do an emu parade alnong the road from Sydney to Perth and pick up all the RR and LR mudflaps.

My original flaps on my 1985 Hi-Line only lasted 15 years, so I didn't mind paying the price of genuine (also from Graeme Cooper). The second set are still there. I just would have appreciated it had they all fallen off on the same day, then it could have been one job instead of four.

The flaps on the classic Rangies are the same part front and rear and the original brackets are a flat piece of metal with (from memory) three bolts. You will probably find the remains of the rubber still on the brackets.

    Cheers
    Diana

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
