Anyone work the panel beating industry?

I am going to use adhesive to stick the side panels onto the off-road trailer I am building.

I was going to use Sikaflex and the technical department recommended Sikaflex 252. I went to an automotive paint and panel place today and they told me the Teroson 9220 (made by Loctite) is much better/stronger than the Sikaflex........but then again that's all they sold.

    Any comments or suggestions?

    No idea

but then my panel beating last time I did it was down right scary. Tie car to tree and drive of several times. Rivet dog food tin over tears in rear quarter panel and smooth over with liberal amount of bog. No sharp edges so passed rego. Gee I miss the cheap transport of a teenager.

I know a guy who used to build buses for a living and all they ever used was sikaflex. Never heard of the stuff you mention.

I have always used sikaflex and always been happy with the result. Just make sure everything is very clean, and preferably use the correct primer.

    Thankyou all,
Yes, I have spoken to a couple of people to day and some said "don't worry about the primer" but the Sikaflex Tech guy said the primer was critical for max adhesion so I think I will listen to him.

I have used sikaflex many times without primer and had fantastic adhesion. BUT - as he said - if you want MAXIMUM adhesion - i.e. in a critical application where the sikaflex is the only thing holding the panel on - then use the primer.

LOL. Why would I want to remove it?

    strong glue

Well you did say off road trailer.
I assumed you would probably bend or break it.
The way i think is you want it to be string enough to last till you want to remove it for repair, modification or replacement.
