Question Biggest battery and where to put 2nd Battey in a Disco?

hey guys.....I can't fit a N70ZZ size battery in my Disco 1 V8.....only a 50......what's the biggest others have put in?

.......Are the Odyssey/Optima type batteries REALLY worth it?

........Where do you fit a 2nd Battery except by moving the Power Steering Reservoir and a Vacuum Tank....OR is that the best option?

Imho thats the best option, changing the air filter moving it back then redirecting the air trunk, shifting the powersteering tank and the little vacume tank thingy should let you have enough room to fit the same size battery on the left as is on the right.

It took me a weekend to shift everything make the mounts plumb it up I wound up with the battery management system on the Right hand side and while I was at it I put a manifold vacume gauge on as well...

Bloke who bought the old girl off me found enough room to squeeze one of those super crap aircompressors on the right side as well as a heat exchanger for a shower hot shower.

I have an N70 in my 300tdi Disco on the opposite side of the radiator. It helps that i have a snorkel which moves the air intake. It is also necessary to slightly move the power steering resevoir. Pretty easy fit then and worth it over the smaller size.

Regarding battery type - try a marine battery - they have a different plate structure to withstand vibration better. Not much dearer than your standard N70ZZ or whatever.

I though anything bigger than a N50 size would be a squeeze width wise - but others say the've done it - hmm when this ones dies I'm gonna try it.
This is on a TDi though- as you say the setup is different on a V8. The battery is an Exide/Champion Extreme N50EX which has both a 550CCA and 75AH rating which is enough for me.
