    It's not the shackles they can be engineer certified for road use, it's the mounting points and such that would have to be grafted onto the chassis

    I read about the gone to far ones in LROI a while ago they were claiming 20inches of travel. Matt

    Is that 20 inches of droop and 20 inches of lift from a horizontal plane or 20inches in all?

    Is it measured from the centre of the hub or the axle mounts?

    These claim 200mm at the shackle

    Ummm unless we're talking about something completely different dont the scissor shackles simply replace the existing shackles...

    Why would there be any welding?

    They don't make them for Landies only every other Leaf sprung 4wd vehicle available. You'd have to get the mounting points from one of these vehicles and graft them onto the landie chassis to legally register it. They are scissor shackles as such but have a locking pin for on road use. Pull the pin and they extend and contract under loads, the shackle only extends to a certain point so unwanted reversing of the shackles not an issue.

    Ok Im missing something here... the pics on the site from Dobbo's post (http://www.climaxsuspension.com.au/s_drops.html) show something that bolts in exactly the same place as the existing swing shackles... no modification required... support chassis, unbolt old shackles and fit these things...

    and from pheonixs post (http://www.difflock.com/buyersguide/...ar/index.shtml) if thats not a pair of series 2 landrovers then someone needs to come and identify what the hell I have in my garage that Im currently rebuilding...

    The ones I posted originally are the ones I'm talking about, they apparently can engineer certified after being bolted to any of the cars available on there list, not landies. Can the mounting points from one of these other cars be welded onto a chassis of a landie so the Climax shackles can be used?

    The ones phoenix posted are excellent, yes they are for series vehicles but are a lot more expensive and am not sure they could be installed legally.

    Im still not following why youd want to weld the mount onto the landie.. Its got a mount.... all you do is remove the existing shackle and install the climax.

    You could ignore the existing shackle pin hole and weld the mount underneath it for some more lift if you wanted to, but why these things are intended to promote axle droop not vehicle lift.

    Measure up your spring width (2 point something inches from memory) and find a vehicle on the list that has the same spring width Im tipping that the Nissan GQ/GU is going to go close and if they arent then one of the 40-75 series cruisers would.

    you might need to replace the suplied bushes with ones to fit a rover tho

    The reason why you dont see landrover on the list... Your landie should just about do everything theyre trying to make the other fourbies on the list do.

    seen as he is Pro Toymota..give him a call an tell him your a Fabricating company and you would like to give him a great price on manufacture of the shackles as you have exclusive access to a chinese factory in Shanghai. If he takes the bait ask for a drawing to quote the cost with...once emailed get working on your own vehicle seen as he tells LR owners to by another car..
