    scissor action drop shackles

    http://www.climaxsuspension.com.au/s_drops.html

These look great and apparently can be legally certified on a vehicle, I saw them on a zook a few weeks ago in the Watagans, heaps of articulation from it

    BUT

They don't and are not going to make them for leaf sprung landies
Are there any alternatives to this brand that will cater for us 4wding minority groups?

I asked them for if there was a solution, his answer buy a new car

    Have you looked at parabolics?

or maybe what you want is something like the gone2far spring mounts?

oops, edited my post between your reply and now, there are a coupple of things in the gone2far link I added, one was the shackle mount kit, another a product like the one you mentioned.

also, parabolics do flex more, and give a better ride.

Aaahhh. All clear from that other thread now, dobbo.

Parabolics are normally manufactured with an inch or so of raise but slightly softer spring rates, so increased flex. Due to reduced internal friction, they provide a ride quality between coils and leaf springs. Come in different load ratings, so if using in an essentially unladen vehicle can go for really soft springs with additional flex benefits.

But the price - cheaper to replace the vehicle than the springs :S Can be had relatively cheaply if fitted to an existing vehicle (on the "nothing you add adds to the value" theory.)

Revolver Drop Shackles were another option that one of our boys took with his Series III 'Tonka'.Used in conjunction with the parabolics they gave great results.
There are some great descussions between RPR and the Gone2Far boys on some of the older forums.
Knock out a search and I'm sure you find the articles on the LRE & LRO sites.

Gon2far fell into a bit of trouble recently....I heard through the vine that QT services now carry alot of their trade. They have a site. Contact QT's Dave Marsh for details.

At risk of self flagellation for even thinking of it in the first place, I thought of this allready "oh the shame" There is a lot of welding to be done on mounting brackets. But look at the price of them $440.00 a pair and the factory is only 5okm away from me.

    If only I could weld

The welding bit isnt so hard, The machining bit isnt that hard either.... doing it legally..... lots of $$$$ involved there....

So long as its not going to see onroad use or come within sniffing distance of a roadworthy inspection Id be willing to have a crack at making a set just for the experience if you could come up with a set of drawings for them.
