    95 V8 Disco won't start

Hey Guys just wondering if anyone has any ideas that could help me get my disco started again.

I went to replace the air filter, and I noticed that there was a fair bit of dirt in the intake/MAF so I decided to clean it out. I disconnected the MAF plug and pulled the housing out. I then pulled the front and rear covers off and cleaned out all the crap....I was careful not to touch or disturb the actual sensors. Once I put it all back together again, the car wouldn't start.

I cleaned the plug connector and tried again, still no luck.

The car was running fine before, and I didn't touch anything else, only the airbox/intake tract.

Have I stuffed my MAF sensor.???

Is there an easy way to tell if the MAF isn't working.???

Thanks in advance for any help.
    Paul

pull the connector off again and check that there are no bent pins in it.....

and have a good look around to see if you may have accidently disconnected anything else........

I checked the pins and they all look good. I also checked that the plug connectors weren't pushed back to far.

I can't see anything I may accidentally unplugged, and I didn't disconnect anything else.

I just used a rag to wipe out the dust and dirt from the housing. I didn't actually do anything to the sensor wires at all.

The only thing I can think off is that I may of shorted something out while unplugging/pluging in, as I didn't disconnect my battery......well I was only replacing the air filter.

Is there an electrical check I can carry out with a voltmeter to see if the MAF is working or not.???

you couldnt have shorted anything out....as the ignition was off.....

you dont need to disconnect the battery to change the air filter........

so....all it does now is turn over without firing.....?
make sure all the plumbing you pulled off is fitted properly.....and that there are no airleaks
between the MAF and the engine.....

Yeah, the ignition was off the whole time......

All it does is turn over, but won't start...doesn't even kick at all.

I'll go and check for air leaks.

Thanks for the help defenderzook....I'll let you know how I go if you are still here.

Well I pulled of all the piping betwen the MAF and plenum chamber, and refitted it making sure there were no leaks.

Tried to start it, and still no luck.......just turns over, but won't start.

Maybe I'll start to troubleshoot the whole fuel system, as something else could be faulty and I didn't notice it.
I have LPG, and drive on that nearly all the time, so I wouldn't have noticed if a petrol problem had occurred whilst driving yesterday.....I only use the petrol to start, then flick over to LPG.
