    84 RR Brake booster

    Hey guys,

Need some advice on my brake booster. 84 Rangie brakes have been a bit "weird' for awhile now so decided to check it out.

Basically this is the sitch. Master cylinder is shagged and has been leaking fluid into the booster. I just pulled it all out and tipped about 500ml of fluid out of the booster!!

Anyway the seal on the front of the booster (behind the flange of the master cyl) is quite worn, as well as the push rod for the master cylinder is rusty.

What I need advice on is what do I do with the booster. Can they be reconditioned or am I looking at a new one?

Do I just get a new seal? Just slap it back in, it's only the PIG, she'll be right. Seeing's how the booster has had brake fluid slopping around inside for god knows how long is it possible other internals are stuffed.

I have lost booster assistance recently and it's quite scary when your burlin down the road, go to use the brakes, and almost pull the steering wheel off 'cause your pressing on the bloody brake pedal so hard!!

Any and all advice is appreciated, as always.
    Cheers

I'm getting my booster recoed at the moment and just had my master resleeved aswell.
Anyway i got it done from better brakes in cheltnham.
Booster cost $286, 24hr turn around
Master $100, 24hr turn around, resleeved with stainless sleeve and new kit put through it.
I got other prices from Rangie specialists of around $200+ for the master and $500+ for the booster.
If you want them to do it i can drop my spare booster off and i'm sure they have a spare master there, so you can pick it up the next day, saving two trips in.

Thanks for the offer Damien. I prefer to have a new master cylinder. I think there is a better brakes near me, in Preston or Coburg. I'll give them a call and see if they'll do the booster.
    Cheers
