    Disco resonance

    Chasing a vibration that reasonates thru my disco.

    i have heard a few mention it over time but cant remember the specifics of what was the usual cause..

    any clues appreciated!

    Could be a Uni as i stuffed one last weekend and completely you know whated the end of my front drive shaft

    The exhaust downpipe flex joint can cause resonance. It might be broken internally.

    it is nothing in the drive train or steering.

    that has been checked right over by harry at MR and all he could fault was a tierod end.

    not wheels and tyres because i tried another set and it was the same.

    i suspected the exhaust joint as the outher braid is crook... i will try getting that fixed and go from there....

    harry suggested shocks, but i gotta admit i cant see shocks putting that sort of vibe thru the truck... but will fit billies if i am forced to :P

    Could be the tail shaft rubber coupling starting to wear. Also try checking the big metal balancer on the front diff, sometimes the bolt start to loosen off a bit.
    If its there when in N then it also might be crank harmonic balancer, the rubber in them perish some times.

    i hear the boys at MR and Vlad chuckling in the dark of night to the accompaniment of beer cans.... :P

    could not convince the wife...... pure and simple....

    i should have bought the 128k rangie but he wouldnt come down to 10k.... and i wasnt going to pay more than that for an 89.... but thats life in the fast lane, i gotta stick to the slow lane for now....

    Be interested to hear how you go with this. I have noticed that the braid on mine is also cactus but haven't done anything about it. Not sure if it makes a difference but i reckon the car is louder than it used to be - maybe I am imagining things though....

    have given it a good run and it has definetly made a big difference to my truck. hasnt cured it all but it has taken a big portion of it away....
