................and certain product need certain temperatures to keep them in the best condition when frozen, for example ice cream should be kept at minus 20 Deg C - most frozen meats need between minus 23 and minus 18

To be honest - no, I have a chart that gives the temp requirements for most frozen foods.

I'll try and dig it out and upload it

    Frozen is frozen.
One of the best nick nacks I purched was a tempreature sensor for the fridge/freezer.
If conserving power as much as possible then it good to know you don't have freeze on deep freeze. Just enough to keep things properly forzen
ice cream does not hold at -5 to well, i did enjoy my ice creams at lone gum tree in the middle of the simpson desert, a couple of guys in toyotas could not believe i was carring ice creams

yep must agree, waeco needs a low voltage cutout to protect the motor, the swing can handle low volts much better.

the repair did say the only way you can kill an engle motor is not letting it cycle, i guess you can say that for any motor

    OK a few simple things.
Real ice cream, as in a frozen desert having a high whipped cream content, not a frozen confection starts to go soft at -15*C !
It must be held at -18* or colder.
Meat and other similar products also should be held at this temperature or colder. Some of the larger freezer rooms I looked after ran at a minumum of -25*. The problem with higher temps is that it doesn't slow down the bacterial action enough and so the life is still limited.
As ladas said, different products need different holding temps, but you won't go too far wrong with these temps.
Another thing to be careful of is fresh chicken, which must be held at -!* to 0*, no higher, or you'll end up with a nice case of food poisoning.

Two things to contemplate. Depending on how old it is, it may not have the Swing Motor. This version usually draws about twice what the newer version with the swing motor does. They still work well but they work harder. They do require more ventilation around the compressor when travelling. Try not to pack too much around that area.
