    High Idle speed

    Evening all,

I have 94 RR SSE (dual fuel) and have a slight idling issue. On most occasions shortly after starting the revs will climb to about 1.5x + and stay there. Now this has happened progressively, by which i mean it was an infrequent occurrence at first, when then revs would even drop back down after a few seconds. To now when its almost always revving to high. After a bit of a drive it sometimes begins to idle properly again.

Any ideas? Speed transducer? how would i tell its busted? does it on both fuels.

    thanks.

    Josh

Haven't owned a petrol vehicle for a few years but I would be looking at the throttle cable, make sure it isn't sticking and does it have an auto choke? FWIW.

Its not the cable sticking (there is a bit of slack at throtle when pedal is not depressed). Auto choke? i'm not sure its not manual..

Go to the other end of the cable and make sure it is returning fully.
There will be a spring doing this.
If it's not a manual choke then it's probably auto.
Spraying some CRC or similar usually frees it up.

There should be someone in here with one of these?

Wouldn't a 94 RR be fuel injected and hence no Choke?

Correct, no choke on efi cars, it will either have a stepper motor or a cold start injector.

Most likely stepper motor, these engines have a diagnostic feature and will show a stepper motor fault, with Rovacom or testbook.
