Hi
99 TD5 Disco II
I want to order my self a new Head Gasket etc.
When I queried as to the cost, I was asked about the thickness of the gasket required.
Apparently there is a tag on the gasket that will have some marks on it indicating its thickness
But I have looked all over and cant find it
Where abouts on the head/Gasket should it be.
Exhaust side? Front? back??

Do you have the Gasket off? If so then the number is marked by holes. like in the PDF. You want the same one as removed. Cost me around $130 but the killer is the bolts!
What condition is your motor in?
Hi John
Are you doing the job yourself????
If so send a PM to Edd(George 130).I almost did mine but after his experiences glad I didnt touch it(Ive done other more basic engines,ie mitsi diesel,holden6,ford6 and V8) and thought I was up to the job but after reading the RAVE CD decided the TD5 is too big a can of worms. There are many pitfalls to catch the unwary,Im sure Edd will let you know as he managed to find plenty.
I got our mobile landy mechanic Richard(KIE4) up in Perth to do it,very good price,he took a bit of time to do it as he had a few problems with broken exhaust studs and he was packing up to shift house at the same time.
He has helped others out from here, and you will find we are all very happy with his service and prices.I would send him a PM for his phone number.
