    hot floor

    Is there any mod for a defender to stop the passengers floor and battery box from turning into a furnace?

    Exhaust wrap or some heat shielding should help.

    i use 50mm header tape with a 25mm overlap on my exhaust from below the manifold joint to just past the gearbox etc.

    works a treat on my series and my disco.

    kills a heap of noise as well as heat...

    i also have a 1/2" thick piece of conveyor belting cut to shape and on the flooor of the series... rarely do peoples feet get hot....

    What about a flat heat shield spaced off the box - a bit like the old tropical roof?

    I like Ron's idea, but another option is to drive through clingy wet clay, then it will bake onto the exhaust and provide a ceramic heat shield. It inadvertently worked well on my SIII

    I did this using 16 gauge aluminium fastened to the engine pipe using standard muffler u-clamps with the alum.sheet sitting on top of the clamp saddle and the nuts on top fastening it to the clamps. Brisbane City Council leaves a plentiful supply of aluminium laying around on roundabouts and traffic calming (jamming) islands etc. Whenever someone knocks one over, Council takes months, if at all, to pick them up. Very handy.
