    D2 rear lights Q

    Hi Guys
Just ordered some LED lights for my new rear bar.
Im intending to wire them up so I get brake lights/tail lights/indicators instead of the normal indicators/rear fog lamps.
OK its easy just wire them into the trailer plug that Im replacing anyway.
I dont use or need the rear fog lamps for what they are intended, but when I get a tailgator I love hitting that fog lamp button.
Am I correct in thinking even if its not totally legal if I wire the fog lamp wire into the stop lamp circuit when I hit the button all the stop lights will light up??????
You got to love to see them back off bigtime as you havent slowed at all

Personally I wouldn't risk the D2 electronics by doing that. If you do, then I would be putting a handful of big diodes in the wiring also.

I'll have a study of the wiring diagrams/fuses/loads etc and get back to you

That’s the quickest way to do it but don’t just loop the wiring across from the existing fog light wiring. Cut the existing fog light wire and then join the fog lights to the brake light wiring, otherwise, every time you put your foot on the brake pedal, the dash light indicator for the fog lights will come on plus, if you should inadvertently turn the fog light switch on, well, you know the rest.

If you wish to keep the potential of having fog lights in case you ever need them, you can bridge the stop lights and fog lights using a diode.

    Cheers

    Thanks Guys
I asked my auto elec mate the same question. His answer was wire the new lights up thru the trailer plug, and forget about the fog lights all together, the body computer may go into hissing fits.

I wired up my fog lights to my brake lights, using a diode, on both my D1 and D2 and never had a problem.

    Cheers.
