nope the 727 is the big one 904 the little one. not too sure about the ratios or the loadflights but know this for sure. the 904 was fitted to slant 6 and 273 and 318. 340 upwards (360, 383, 400, 440 and the king 426 hemi) all used the 727

Just resurrecting this thread because I have a question regarding which transmission I have.

The one that is in the vehicle (1981 2 door) that I am taking apart has the oil lines coming from the drivers side whereas the spare one that I have that I was told is a C4 has them coming from the passengers side.

They have markings stamped on them, the first line is 0546 065910, the second line on the one in the vehicle seems to be ISSUE I 1009 and on the other one ISSUE A 254.

They look identical apart from the differences in where the oil lines go to.

They seem to have identical oil pans.

Has anyone got any clues as to what I have ?????

    Hi,

I've got one of the original Ritters conversions in my POS. It uses a C9 and LT 95 transfer case chop.

Oil lines are on the driver's side. Nice to drive.

I was told mine was a C4 when I bought it, but the guy making the torque convertor to mate to Chev picked it as a C9 straight away. Bigger input shaft from memory. They are supposedly stronger than a C4, but all that old quality can be bulletproofed.

It could also be a C6, as Ritters supposedly used them too.

    cheers, DL
