Also pays to shop/ring around. When I was in Penrith a couple of years ago the Mobil distributor was closing so I dropped in to see if they had any D1 and see what price they could do. Yes they did, and they could do a super special price as they wanted to offload it. $80 dearer than what I was paying in Tamworth at the time........

I'm still paying less for D1 from Lowes Petroleum at Tamworth than Mobil 1 costs at K Mart.
    Is Delvac synthetic?

Why is it so good for diesels? I guess you'd try and get the "super" one that gets rid of soot etc?

Do you think this would be a worthwhile switch from Shell Helix(ultra - full synthetic)?

The Delvac that has been referred to on this thread is the Delvac 1, which is a full synthetic. The Delvac Super is not synthetic.

Whereabouts can Delvac 1 be bought in Melbourne? It is not easy to find.

I see. I'm trying to find out who sells it in Brisbane. It would appear this is a difficult thing Just a list of suppliers on their website and I'd be happy.

    Anyone know:
    * How difficult it would be to fit one of these to a 300TDi?
    * How they drive on the TD5?

The filter sits on a shaft and has two holes at the edges facing in opposite directions. The action of the oil passing out through the holes spins the filter (a bit like a water jet on a boat).

So they're oil driven, not mechanical?

Next question is where do I get one and do they already come with a 30 micron screen or is that something to source? If so, where from for the screen too!

    Thanks!
