The fuel filter is behind the RH back wheel on a Td5.

DOH, Just realised your post says V8

Looking at the RAVE CD the V8 shows the fuel filter is actually part of the sender unit. If this is the case (I'm not very familiar with the V8) I would suspect they have had to remove the sender unit and have done something to the float.

    Thanks DM_td5,
I thought as much you assistance is greatly appreciated and to all that have posted about the sender unit in the tank.
I will call Land Rover in the morning and confirm that is where the fuel filter is in the V8 and get them to rectify.

The Disco went in to Bruce Lynton Land Rover and they have pulled the old sender unit out and replaced it with a new one on warranty.
So all is back to normal now and the fuel guage works properly. They did not inform of what the exact problem was with the old fuel sender unit.

Another interesting note that apparently the fuel filter never gets changed on petrol D2 Disco's. Has anyone heard of that before. I am amazed as every car I have owned has had all filters replaced during certain service intervals ?

Can I ask how much the install was on your tank.

ARB have quoted me $1275 for 140l amd TJM have got $1600 for 150L

The TJM is a Long Range Automotive variety which is two tanks, one main and one panel mount and has a better clearance??????? they say.

And ARB the Long Ranger single tank apparently???.

I had fitted an ARB Long Ranger 130Ltr fitted for $1,320.00
Thats the single main tank replacement.

I would be a bit cautious if it is a 150Ltr main tank as you would not want to hang any closer to the ground than the one I have fitted. I get in to some difficult terrain some times and it has had one hit. It dose give the same clearance as the original tank but I cannot see a larger tank doing so.

There is no fuel filter replacement on the D2 V8 as it is part of the sender/pump. This is written on the service schedule on the D2.
