One could always try the Smoky Yunick principle that if the rule book does not specifically forbid, then the scrutineers have no grounds to intervene.

I'm using the same engineer as 6.5 rangie. Bill from Talk Torque, who also worked with LRA to "pre-engineer" their body lift and what not.
His words were "I dont care how big you go, as long as you can prove you have adjusted the car to suit. ie: a 30% increase in tyre size. I need you to show an increase of of at least 30% in braking, diff and axle strength and handling"
