The guy LRA use engineers for 35's, he will be doing mine.
Hi all,
I ran a search but came up with nothing specific - Is there anyway you can legally get 35's on a defender/110?
Mine has 35's now and I know these are outside the dimentions considered legal under the Vicroads "allowable modifications" - (max of 25mm wheel/tyre width change, max of 15mm wheel/tyre diameter change) but my insurance company was fine with them, even listed them as accessories for the agreed value policy...(I'm a bit worried this is a convenient 'out' for them actually).
is it purely a matter of getting an engineer to aprove them (as well as the suspension and flares)? telling the insurance company and thats it? or do I have to get a new compliance plate etc etc?
I'd VERY much prefer to do this totally legally if at all possible and everything I read seems to be big on smoke and mirrors and low on hard facts.
Thanks in advance,

And if he does, according to my feedback from the people in the know...
VicRoads will recall your vehicle and cancel the engineering.
Be careful and check this twice before you spend your cash.
Victorian Gov has stated no 4wd will have over 33's legally anymore.
got a reference for this tombraider? I've search blardy vicroads over and over and haven't seen such a claim to date...Originally Posted by tombraider
here is the vehicle modification guide for Victoria:

note, it doesn't say anything about tyres greater than 15mm bigger than standard not being acceptable, just that if it falls outside the accepted range, it would have to be engineered (or not as the case may be!)

Several high ranking staff at ARB, AT4WD etc. etc.....
Several engineers who have been engineering 35s have been delisted by Vicroads in recent months and their clients sent letters stating "please report for inspection"
I didnt want it to sound nasty it just seemed strange that someone from SA knew more about the laws than us dumbass,sOriginally Posted by tombraider
