I am going to upgrade the stereo in my disco but was wondering if someone can tell me what the an ISO plug for the wiring looks like ? I have a near new cd player that i had in my old rangie that has a single rectangular plug a bit like a pc ide plug on it and thought i could fit in ?

AERPRO sell all the adaptor cables needed at Autobarn to plug most makes of head unit into most makes of car. They are 14.99, in some cases you need two (inc. if you want steering wheel controls to work)

Been a long time since I worked in car audio but from memory unless the unit you want to put into the Disco is European then it won't have an ISO plug. I think Blaupunkt was the only brand we sold using ISO.
Something else that was a bit of a worry is we found that not all radios we saw that had ISO plugs actually had the same wiring positions. Although I would have thought they would but there you go.

I haven't had my D1 stereo out (has a Kenwood CD player already) and I can't remember what D1 stereo wiring looks like. I should though as we did quite a few D1s.

On the left hand connect, observe the small "cross" shaped sockets. Small spade terminals fit in here.

On my Disco the ISO plug was there as part of the harness but the original Land Rover headunit actually plugged into the ISO using [small]spade terminals into the ISO

So Joel, i pulled my stereo out and it looks to have two slim plugs into one larger socket and look brown and black as per the pics above. Hoping to get a newy tomorrow and want to plug it straight in if possible.

    Go here: http://www.aerpro.com.au/vrg.php
Select harnesses - you should find your radio listed. The new harness replaces the bit from the brown and black plugs, not the one that fits into your old radio ( Which itself is an adaptor harness for Aust) . You may have to order one in, but it was the best $20 I ever spent, and took only 5 min total to fit a new Kenwood radio.
