    electrical poltergiest

    BlackBetty has been possesed.
Did the wiring for the new rear bar and re-did the trailer plug, all worked perfect, even that silly trailer light stoped flashing with LED lights fitted.
A couple of days ago the right indicator starded going fast.OK easy find the blown globe,5 min job I thought!!!!!.Turns out the right front bullbar indicator isnt flashing, but get this the sidelight next to it is .Remove the not working globe and the sidelight goes out.Re-fit the globe original or new,no indicator just the flashing sidelight.Sidelight works as per normal when indicators are off.
Everything else appears to be normal,I know trailers to strange things but I havent touched the front wiring.
    Roll out the ideas please.
Before I perform an exorcism with 5 litres of petrol.

Look out somebody's stolen the ground

    Hi
The problem with your front indicator is lacka as my mother in law would say.

A lack of good grounding in the electrical sense

Because both the front lights share a ground point, if the ground connection fails then the connection floats above ground and the voltage is shared between the tyo lightglobes and it finds a ground back through the side light circuit and all the other side lights on the car. If the car was in the dark you would see the indicator light glowing a bit with eack flash.

To exorcise the ghoul...find the ground point and clean and tighten it.

Of course silver bullets / wooden stakes / garlic on standby.

    I agree with Zwitter.

If you think about it, you've seen it plenty of times before on old Holden stop/tail lights.

I will look further into it.
Funnily enough Ive got plenty of garlic on hand, just harvested 5 wheelbarrows full out of my vegi garden this morning
Not sure the light is earthed to the bullbar, the wiring seems to be 1 loom going up into the engine compartment.
Will remove totaly tommorow and dig deeper
    Thanks guys

bad grounding/earths .... if the problem continues run new ground/earth wires to the 'problem' areas.

    ..............that should do it

SIMPLE JOB,TOOK ANOTHER 1 1/2 HOURS.But the Poltergiest is banished, for the time being anyway
Removed the bullbar indicator/sidelight assembly, cleaned all that lovely baked on Harvey mud from all the connections, scratched the contacts, connect up and test,SAME .
Remove again fit a short earth wire from the light to the bullbar, refit, test SAME
Remove again get a long bit of wire connect direct to the neg batt terminal, test SAME
Hang on a breif return to normal, but alas SAME
Remove again try and get the wiring out of the assembly cant be done, cheap indian curry light!!!!!Notice some corrosion way down deep on the indicator globe holder, cant get a soldering iron in to re-solder no room.Bush mechanics time.I got a 30cm length of solder, wound it around and around the bulb holder then with a pair of those jewlers screwdrivers kept forcing the solder as tight into the gap between the globe holder and the plastic housing.Seal it up with sillycum but it all back together HEY PRESTO all fixed
Bloody electriggery,no wonder things go astray with the ECU when a bit of oil gets in the wiring.
    Mission accomplished.
