Problem number 2:
Don’t think this is related. As soon as I accelerate me git this strange squeaking whistles. We first though it’s the belt, replaced that, still makes the noise. I’ve even driven down Parramatta road (short trip) without a belt or fan to check and the whistle is still there (not easy and will not do that again). It sound external to the engine and under heave load (up hill) it stops. Any ideas on what this could be?

This may not be correct, but a leaky inlet manifold will give repeated high pitch squeaks as the engine draws in air through the gaps. I have noticed this is prevalent on Jappa Motor cycles and cars. Maybe the landy can also suffer warped inlet manifolds. Just a suggestion.
