RR - power steering weight adjustment ?

Ever since the new steering box was fitted the Rangie seems a lot heavier to steer.

I have heard that there is a fairly simple adjustment that can be made to change the steering weight (ie to make it a bit lighter / easier).

Can anyone shed light on this ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Are you sure it isn't just normal? One of the signs that the classic rangie steering boxes were wearing out is that the steering gets lighter and lighter as it gets more worn.

With a new box you would be back to the beginning. Also you can adjust the box with the allen bolt and lock nut on the top. May just be that it is adjusted to tight. Depends who set it up (if anyone) to start with.

    I might be wrong...but here's what I think!

A lot of the weight in the steering comes from the shimming of the pin in the top of the swivel housing. According to the manual I think it should have 3lb of inertia when the wheel is off and everything disconnected. (this is easily checked with a fish weigher). When you put on bigger tyres you should remove some shims to give it a greater weight against inertia.

I know with my 35" ET's I have it set at 10lb which gives you a good feel and stops any shimmying.

So is that all clear as mud!

Not a thread hijack just a slight deviation, normal direction will resume shortly.

I have the opposite, my steering is quite light, how do I make it a bit heavier?
