    ARB Bar Discovery II

After a weekend of 4wdriving, a fault has come to light. One of the vehicles that came away is a Disco II with an ARB bullbar. I had never noticed before, but once it was stuck I found that there are no recovery points fitted to this bar.

My Disco I ARB bar fitted to my Rangie has recovery eyes built into the front of it (not that I need them ). I had assumed the Disco II bar would be the same, but kneeling in 60 degree sand proved me wrong.

What have other people done regarding front recovery points on Disco IIs?

    Cheers,

    Jon

    Aye,

I've got a TJM T15 bar and I got two front reco. points from Troutbeck, 2 high grade tuff as nuts points for $60. Used with an equaliser strap from Inc's website!!

They attach to the chassis (& should be used with high tensile bolts)
Centre pull and also LR towbar with two points on rear.

Will post some photos when I find them.

I assumed the airbag was the reason for the lack of recovery points. It didn't help us on the weekend though. We ended up looping a strap through the bar around the uprights and I used the minimum speed possible to effect the recovery (idle in low first). Still managed to move the bullbar a little on its mounts.

If you are talking about the tabs with a hole in them, they are not recovery points!!! I've seen way to many of these destroyed.

I've done the same. It's a much more solid mount behind the crush cans.

I too have a TJM T15 with winch.
I mounted towing hooks on the side of the winch frame with High tensile grade 8 bolts just low enough to be under the bar.

    cheers

I fitted a set of 10000lbs recovery eyes to the front of my Disco 2. They are flat plates about 1/2'' thick. They were quite expensive so i made drawings and have all the dimensions. I'll bring them to work tomorrow and scan them so you can have them made.. should be heaps cheaper

These eyes are for the high lift jack bracket.
I have yet to be recovered in the Disco but I bought an equaliser strap from Incisor. I want to get the NATO thingamyjigs that attach to the chassis for recovery. I'm not to keen on using the eyes mentioned above for a snatch even with the equaliser strap. They would bend if you even thought about having to do a slightly sideways pull.
I've got no airbags to woory about though

Thats right these tabs are for attaching your winch hook. The manufacturer has not made them as recovery point. I have got a rear bar in the w/shop at the moment with one of these tabs torn through???

    Regards Justin
