    Series 2a water pump

Spent the afternoon replacing the water pump on the 2a. No dramas worth talking about. Only rather amusing incident was when reassembling, having filled the system to make sure there were no leaks, I found it was impossible to refit the radiator shroud without removing the top hose again. At least it was just plain rainwater with no inhibitor added yet.

I took the LH mudguard off to make life easier - you can do the water pump without removing it, but I was also replacing the makeshift alternator bracket (which has been there for ten years) with a proper one. And again, while this can be done with the guard in place, it is a LOT easier with it off. I ran out of time to refit the mudguard, will do that in the morning, should only take about half an hour.

John, Frank here, got home safely, have spent the time since recuperating, the motor never moved and is still in the back of the 4runner, I will get it out tomorrow and start cleaning it up, thanks again for your help, will let you know how it goes, Regards Frank.

Thanks Frank, if I hadn't heard from you I would have been worrying - after you left I realised I should have warned you about the hoppies - lots of them about, and last year my son hit one on the route you were taking, at about the same time of day (between Molong and Cudal).

John, had a few close calls on the way up, but, luckily, never had one try to commit suicide on the way home, I probably wouldn't have noticed anyway, I was totally exhausted as I probably only got an hours sleep after an 8 hour drive up. I stopped at Wellington and had a rest for 1/2 an hour, then at Cowra for about an hours sleep and then about 3hours at Boorowa. Left there at daybreak and stopped for breakfast at Queanbeyan and another hour or so sleep and finally arrived home before lunch, straight into the shower and then to bed, I s'pose I should look after my sugar a bit better, Regards Frank.
