G'day all im about to start on a rear maxi install on cal415's d2(lil bros truck) dose the housing need to be pree stressed prior to welding the block on as im also fitting a welded on protecor plate accross the back of the pan to toughen it up i dont think it will move much at all if any the housing has all sortsa crap weled on it (factory) to mount the wats link so im sure as s#$% it wont need t be prestressed as long as i weld it the rite way with the mig any thoughts on this wll be great thanks
Also any body converted the plastic drive plate thingy (rotor flex) to a normal set up cause it dont have an exposed nut or pin im a bit stumped on how to swap it other wise il put the maxi in a front diff outa a fender we have insted of the replacement d2 one he got thanx guys

I have installed my own MD (salisbury). I didn't pre-stress the housing, just took all the welding very slowly with the MIG, and made sure not to put too much heat into the casing - also let it cool down as slowly as possible.
I know plenty of other people who have not pre-stressed and all was fine. If you aren't using a MIG I would pre-stress though.
Yep ive herd this b4 ad just want to here what u guys have to say about it and yes im using my mig to weld it up and yes ive probably done more than 100km of mig welding if you put all my welds end to endOriginally Posted by isuzurover
