Oh yeah the advice bit,
Unless its got an engineers cert for the donk - DON"T TOUCH IT.
If it has - it could be a good buy. drive it and see.
If the work was done in Qld there should be a certification plate in the engine bay - should look something like this

Engineering Plate may not be in engine bay, could instead be in cabin.
"Engine has been completely stripped and rebuilt"... and its not the original engine! Then both vehicle and motor have obviously done a lot of work and may need some TLC depending on how good it was all put together.

It's also out of rego.
And the first description says its a:
Engine 4 cylinder Petrol Carburettor 2300L (2286cc)
while second says: THE 6 CYLINDER LANDCRUISER ENGINE HAS BEEN TOTALLY REBUILT AND BLUEPRINTED.
Curious,
$4000 i reckon is bit high, i see these occasionally around here about for about $2000ish and sometimes in better nick.
You need to get underneath and look for rust, probably seen lots of beach action, got 10 rod holders on it.

The 4 cyclinder is part of the carsales template for a landy, but it would probably give a lot of trouble having a toymota in it - bit like rejection of a heart transplant, too much for what it is and i would prefer an isuzu diesel in it.

In addition to the above:
If it has a toyota 6cyl petrol and a land rover gearbox, I would run away quickly, as the engine WILL break the box.
If it has a toyota box and t-case - check carefully that the conversion has been done properly, that the ratios are reasonable (i.e. drives OK and has a decent low range) and that things like the handbrake and speedo work properly.
Loooks like it would have seen a lot of beach work with that ridiculous and ILLEGAL sausagemaker on the bullbar - check EVERYWHERE for rust - but especially - door frames, footwells and sides of firewall, front and rear ends of chassis, fuel tank outriggers, bellhousing crossmember, etc...
Was it originally a 6 cylinder rover? Maybe it should have said Landrover instead of Landcruiser engine in the description. I hope so.
I am not aware of a toyota conversion kit for the Landies anyway.
The copper in the pic is a bit sus, but it is promising in that if they did the description then they did'nt know diddly, not like the owner.![]()
Just because there are no commercial adaptors doesn't mean it is not possible. I know someone who has a SIII with a holden engine and a toyota gearbox and t-case. And someone else who has a toyota 3B diesel (with box and t-case) in a 101FC.Originally Posted by DeeJay
Just noticed it has bucket seats - it needs a mod plate for them too.
