SubscriberI have a small leak in my radiator and so far everyone i talk to say "oh they can't be fixed you'll need a new one" well seeing as i have been riding and racing Motorbikes fro 20yrs + i seem to remember going through the same thing when i was told that you couldn't fix bike radiators.
So who has had there TD5 radiator repaired is there a recommended repairer here in Sydney, the leak is so small it doesn't drip onto the ground, the aircon drips more water than the leaking radiator, and i only top up every couple of days and usually only around a litre of coolent is required.
Any help would be much appreciated

Mine was done by the previous owner at Southern Suburbs Radiator Service, Blakehurst, 9547 2450. Have not used them yet, but had cause to ring them the other week. The bloke I spoke to couldn't have been friendlier and helped me out no dramas. My LR mechanic also uses them as well, so that says a lot I think.

I also have the weeping Td5 radiator. I do not loose as much as you but I would have to top up approximately 200 - 300ml a week.
I have been toying with the idea to replace radiator and intercooler at the same time but its a $3000 question. I have been refilling every week and just waiting to see if gets worse.
I have just recently put in a bottle of Car Plan Radiator Stop Leak. It does work....so far
It was something I would have prefered not to do but back in the younger days I had a severe leak that imobilized the car miles from home. Some outback mechanic had the last remaining bottle of Bars Leak and it worked....for the next seven years!
For a $10 fix it maybe worth a try.

Lyndon mine would be about the same as yours, i checked the level this morning and i last added coolent to it monday at Manna Gum on the AULRO weekend.

SubscriberAre you sure it's the radiator? I had an ever so slightly dislocated hose clip on one of the hoses and had to top up every now and then as coolant was leaking out at the connection. Until I found the culprit and put it on correctly.

...And whatever you decide to do, remember it is about a 5 hour job to replace the rad in a disco Td5, (INcluding thorough flushing and coolant change) so do it once, properly.

Cost me $666 to have mine done. It was done by natrad in Canberra. The guys even thanked me for giving them the chance to do it as they had never seen the TD5 radiator.

if its the radiator.....and not a hose......a bottle of chem-i-weld should stop it.....
but before doing that......just find the leak and use some of the two-part epoxy resin...such as "knead-it"......
this should fix the leak......
only problem is....if the radiator has worn through in one spot it will have wear elsewhere as well......
ready to leak........so keep the putty in the car just in case......

SubscriberI had a couple of leaks found during a service (LR dealer). One was the top hose and the other a pin hole leak on the rear of the radiator core. They claimed the pin hole leak was caused by a stone, but I'm a little unsure if a stone could get in there.It was toward the top third of the radiator. I had noticed, and thought it stange that the coolant needed to be topped up every 2 months (very small leak) after the previous service. The funny thing is they replaced the water pump on the previous service and I reckon the "ding" where the pin hole leak is is about where a spanner might hit if it slipped.
Anyway, I got a good quality stainless hose clamp for the hose and fixed that problem for about $2.
The pin hole leak I cleaned with electrical contact cleaner spray and a gentle rub with a nylon "toothbrush" style brush then filled with 2 part expoxy putty stuff. Cost about $10.
Been 12 months now. No leaks.
