Platinum or +2 or +4 Type Platinum Plgs in RR Classics and early Discos

Anyone had any good or bad or indifferent experiences in running any of the Platinum or Iridium Spark Plugs in RR Classics or early Discos [ 3.5 and 3.9 V8's]?????

Was it worthwhile in ANY way?.....or simply no use for anything or a simple waste of money - as opposed to not economical?

    Many thanks in advance guys!

what ive heard is the only advantage in running platinum or iridium plugs is the service life is 100.000 ks instead of the 25.000 k life of a standard plug

so you get four times the life out of them and at $20 to $25 a plug you do the maths

Actually they work out at about $11.50 each from Supercheap for WR91X in 2 packs of 4 costing a total of $92.26..........so, they're about two-n-a bit times the price of the regular Resistor plugs I've always used.......maybe not TOO expensive to try out for the next 100,000 kms/[5 years(!!!) the way I drive].......and it saves the hassles of putting back the plug hidden under the f****ing brake booster for quite a while!!!

i dont change plugs when the book tells me to.......unless its a customers car and there is profit to be made......

plugs last longer than the book says........the plugs in the wifes falcon have done about 50,000kms so far......and still going........
if they are not worn or damaged.....there is no real need for the expense of replacing them..........

just check a couple of them every 5000kms when you change your oil....
and check different ones each time.......

just because the book says 25,000kms doesnt mean thats all they will last.....you will be surprised.......

this is assuming the engine is in good order and repair......

if you are struggling with the plugs.....you may need some different tools to make the job easier......
it all depends on what sockets extensions and ratchets you are using......

most jobs under the bonnet dont require anything bigger than a 3/8 ratchet....1/2 drive is too big for the tight spaces.......

I actually throw away most resistor plugs after about 15,000-20,000 kms or a year and non-resistor type less than that.......I reckon that although they might look OK, they age and wear in both erosion of the electrodes and changes in the resistance and other changes such that it's false economy to keep them just because they still look OK/haven't obviously failed.

AS they age/deterorate/erode the required voltage and current they require to fire CORRECTLY each and every time they're meant to fire after extended mileage changes enough to make a gradual difference that you may not even notice.

And, yes, I've got all sorts of sizes and extensions and swivels and unis and joggle joints and I STILL think that the rear plug on driver's side is a bastard to put back in and torque correctly!
