Please name these insurers. I might getquotes from them. Neither Suncorp no RACQ will countenance this. They refuse to write a "no excess" policy, and excess applies to windscreens.

An RACQ supervisor told me that their across-the-board excess policy removed all the small claims at considerable savings both in claim costs and administration. He also mentioned that a significant percentage of policy holders were prone to "breaking" at least one windscreen per year thus paying for their insurance. I couldn't fault this last allegation as I know of people who did this, and even thought of doing it myself.

I am insured with Shannons, the free windscreen does not include stone damage. Luckily we have big birds out here (eagles) and that covers it.

I have a windscreen with very minor scratches (only noticeable if you look hard) if you need a standard one.

I had a combined policy with Torque - they insure classic cars so I added the Land Rover to my Alfa's policy with unlimited no-excess glass replacement (side and windscreen). I think AAMI give you one free windscreen a year and I'm sure Allianz does too (who I am currently with - at a substantial saving I might add).

Yes, Allianz say no excess on windscreen claims on their website.

NRMA don't cover windscreens in their standard policies anymore, they oh so quietly dropped them several years back.
You can include it if you ask, and pay extra.
