I drilled through the chassis and bolted the tank to the chassis (bolted right through the chassis).
I plumbed mine in so that an electric pump transferred petrol from the sill tank to the main tank. I connected the overflow from the main tank back to the sill tank so that it didn't matter if I left the pump running, I couldn't overfill the main. As my car was EFI, it was really the only way to go, I couldn't use the tank to supply the engine directly as it could have on a carby engine.
I can't remember the exact details as it was about 8 years ago and I sold that car 4-1/2 years ago.
Make sure your transfer pump switch is illuminated when switched on and in sight so you can see it is on.
