Many threads on thermo versus viscus, but has anyone transplanted a radiator ?
I recently acquired a new Ford Falcon EA, EB aluminium radiator with built in transmission cooler and the twin thermo setup with wiring loom. I have spent a good day working out clearances and spacing with some success however not fully satisfied yet.
I have no doubt I will get it fitted, just fishing around for ideas before I go full steam ahead and modify something I shouldn’t.
Why the replacement ???? After 3 attempts to fix the old radiator I gave up and cracked it big time. Then I noticed all but one blade on the old viscus fan was incomplete, too many water crossings.

Subscriberif you can mount the Falcon rad like the Rover one it may be OK.Ie It MUST sit on rubber mountings on the bottom. ( I assume you are talking a cross flow rad).
If you try to mount it on side mountings just bolted on, the core will break away from the tanks, if you go on rough tracks especially corrugations.
This was a major problem in Saudi even with stock rads, from the inertia of the core bouncing up and down relative to the tanks, and that was with rubber monts.

Yes talking about a cross flow rad with side tanks with one tank housing the transmission cooler. I am utilising the original rubber mounts at the top with an offset bracket which keeps the assembly back far enough to clear the bonnet and not too far as to hit the old fan spigot.
At the bottom I have grabbed some 25 mm diameter heater hose and tied it in place along a convenient channel at the base of the radiator along it’s entire length.
What I am not happy with is the fact that the radiator is physically attached to the body at the top (as per original) and in contact with the chassis, should this be one or the other ? The way I have it so far it is almost suspended by the top and just resting on the bottom.
