Defender Clutch

Hi, I have a 95 defender with a very tempremental clutch (R380 gearbox). During the stroke of the pedal it seems to be getting stuck when taking off and then stuck again half way to the top. The problem is even worse when the air con is on and it is making it difficult to a; select first and b; change through the gears smoothly. The secondary slave is only two years old and the clutch system isn't leaking. Anyone have any clues?

Clutch fork wearing through at the pivot ball joint (quite common)?

Ron, thanks for the advice. I have had the same and just wanted to double check. I''ll have to get a couple of quotes now I know what to ask for. Cheers.

Engine out, check the clutch and pressure plate, and the rear main seal. Fixum, new clutch fork and reinsert.

I believe that my local LR specialists weld a plate behind the fork socket so that when the ball punches through, the car is still drivable.

I was under the impression this was a 200tdi problem and your 95 (300tdi?) should not have this issue.

Quite possibly. I don't know. I've seen it but I don't know from which model the fork came.
