Modifications to Change the Converter Lock up point ZF 4 speed

Because I have 4:11 diff ratios in my Disco the torque Converter now locks at 60klm/h, whereas Discos with standard gearing and tyres lock up at around 80klm/h (at least it did in my prev. stock 93 Disco). Does anyone know how to modify the Valve body or whatever to return lock up to a reasonable speed of 80klm/h, which would make it much better on hills, by the time it has dropped back to 60klm/h before lock up, all momentum is lost and dropping back to 3rd (top) gear wastes fuel, any help would be appreciated, I have a genuine ZF workshop repair manual, but it has nothing on this mod, Regards Frank.

Slunnie, it's a 93 series 1 Disco, no Cat, single coil, electronic distributor, engine block and heads 2003 4.0L, 93 (3.5) fuel injection system, ZF 4 sp '93, has 4:11 gearing with 33' tyres, Regards Frank.

4.11's and 33's means normal gearing....

Your rpms are right in the D1 for those tyres...And therefore the transmission is shifting based on those RPMs correctly.

The D1 trans is "dumb" and has no idea of the tyre size, unlike D2s electronic trans which uses interfacing with the ATC and ECU for shifting control.

Your trans is locking as per normal, and your speedo should be close to spot on too.

Tombraider, speedo is out 200m in 5 klms and the engine is pulling 200rpm more that my standard (ex) 93 Disco at 100klm/h, prev. 93 Disco used to "lock-up" when speed dropped just below 80kph. Tyres are marked 12.5x33x15 actual measurement (tyres only have 1k on them) is 31" bottom to top, 32" front to back thru middle (horizontal), I bougjht these tyres to regain original gearing, looks like 35's might be the go, Regards Frank.
