only reason i want to lift it a little is so i don't melt the rubber spacer.

    thanks guys.
oh the chassis will flex quite a bit alright, I've seen at least 12mm of daylight between chassis & rubber body pads (not mounts) just in my driveway - ok it's a nasty driveway.

Like Andrew suggested, make a 3mm thick, square (or rectangular) washer. But i would place the washer on top of the body mount. This would make it easier to weld the front, back and outside edges of the washer to the body mount.

From the pics, I can't be sure what your vehicle is, other than it is not a classic rangie or disco I, which have bodies that I know are easy to lift. The rubber isolators are replaceable items.

If you remove the nuts from the other body mount bolts on that side of the vehicle, and loosen the nuts on the other side front 3 mounting bolts, you should be able to jack under the body to lift it so that rubber isolator can be removed while you weld.

As the jack lifts the body, it will take weight of the springs, which will extend and lift the chassis with the body. Eventually the springs will stop extending and only the body will lift.
