Land-lord:-Here is one option I have.....
I have:
86" 1955 SWB S1 bare chassis
s2a engine 251.... suffix 'F'.
S2a gearbox/tc suffix 'D'.
I want:
minimal hotwork to chassis to make things fit
maximum ease of driving gear/engine/transmission fitment
enjoyable and reliable driving after fitment on road/bush
Q1:
Should I insert the S1 mechanical clutch with a S2a bellhousing (instead of s2a hydraulic clutch)?
Yes. Bolt in job.
Q2:
Will the crank pulley clear the front axle on full travel?
See my other post - not a major problem
Q3:
For the 86", what are the advantages of lighter 2.25L S2a engine over the Holden 186 lump? (In terms of bush bashing and some on road use)
The 2.25 is not lighter, but it suits the gearing better and is designed for off road use - doesn't worry about steep slopes like the the Holden does.
Q4:
For the S1 109", should I keep the S2a engine in there or replace it with the 186 Holden Red?
I would not put the Holden engine in it either for the reasons noted
Something to ponder..............[/QUOTE]
