Ive often thought a D4 would make a good dual cab ute such as how they do the Landcruiser 100 and 200 series cut down to dual cab utes! Love the look of this one!
The chop is easy , its making it look like a factory job is where all the details are.

I came across a thread on another forum talking about converting a D4 to a ute. Not sure if it would work with the body off concept compared to something with full chassis rails.
Has anyone done it? I can only assume if you paid someone it would not be worth your while given what I have read on this thread so far. But if you had the skills and tools it may be a useful project

It seems fairly evident that the chassis of a D1 or D2 is best extended by about 20" both for appearance and practicality with a trayback (often done using 2 chassis). Does anyone know if a D3/D4 chassis be extended as simply??
Extending the chassis would be easy enough. Getting it engineered with the stability control calibrations etc may be another issue all together....
D4 wheelbase is 10" longer than a D1/D2 to start with?
here's one of my customers ute conversion

Thanks for that pretty much how I was looking at it
