Thanks to all who responded to my question. I guess transfer cases just get hot. Now that it has got good new oil will see how we go. I'll just put it in the same basket as the occasional stiff clutch, the warning light that tells me that the fuel water filter is wet (on the outside), etc. Buts thats why we like Landrovers !
