    D1 cargo barrier

Ok guys who has a pick of their half height cargo barrier they have either brought or made for their D1 ???

I need as much room as possible in the back as I am trying to fit the 110l waeco in sideways with a set of custom drawers to the side, this means I need all the depth I can get.

Thanks again,,,,,, from a pain in the you know where.

I have the full height Milford barrier but I would question the wisdom of fitting a 1/2 height imho. In a sudden deacceleration, what is there to stop stuff hitting the seat back?

Happened a couple of years ago & a TV set went forward & squashed the kid (s) in the rear seat.

Then again, you may have something else.

These are photos of my D1 cargo barrier. It is from a Magna from I think the early 90's but not too sure on the year. It is mounted upside down in this instance as it was a better fit that way.

The barrier is currently out at the moment. I am going to raise it a little and cut the middle bar out. The bar was for when it was in the forward position in the Magna wagon so I don't need it and it is in the way of baby seat straps and my rear vision since it is mouonted upside down.
I should have it back in either tomorrow or next week.

These photos and more are in my cargo drawers thread.

I should also add that as you can see I have a 80L Waeco and if what you mean is that you want to fit it lengthways (opposite to what I have in the pics) then you won't fit it without folding a seat down.

However if you want to fit it in the same as I have then you will run into height problems. As I think mine barely opens. I guess that is why you want to put drawers BESIDE your fridge and not under them like mine (these drawers came with the car by the way).

I wouldn't think anything in the back of a D1 could get enough of a run up to smash through the back seat

My fridge when mounted in the pics above touchs the back of the seat and is about 5cm from touching tha back door!

I picked up a commercial brand c/barrier 6mths ago with no comp tag, from a 4x4 shop, long story short after ringing my ins comp (WQBE) they said if its not compliant and I have an acc/or someone is hurt/killed and they can put it back to or "blame" the barrier no ins, so I spent the extra money, $50, and have a lovely tagged ect barrier now sitting in the back.

That is no doubt true but insurance companies say that about everything.

Mine is compliant. I just have to convince them that it is still valid even though it is mounted upside down and is not in a Magna

Yes thanks mate,, I am going to fit my fridge the same way you have yours,, (it only just fitted in the D2 with the handles off ). I am also going to be fitting a Black widow fridge slide, they now make the side accessable version, whick would help by bringing the fridge out of the back before I need to open it.

How close to the seats does everyone's cargo barriers mount ??

Thanks again for your help guys.

Mine is hard up against the seat. In fact you have to push a little harder to lock the seat into position with the cargo barrier in place.
