Mine was replaced under warranty at about 50,000klms if I remember correctly. If it's a failure because the seals aren't up to it, maybe it should be a recall by Land Rover. Don't hold your breathe for that though.

Had mine replaced at the 100,000 service. The replacement cost $350 plus fitting. I now use Ritter in Melbourne and was very pleased with their approach. They would find a suitable non genuine, but proven part for you. The LR list price I think is in the region of $550.
Mine needed replacing at 70,000. This is another common great design fault by Landrover with the TD5.:mad:

I must be lucky. It's done 143,000 and it was where pipe number 5 goes in that i cracked hte housing. Quick weld and its done 3,000 so far.
Firstly the responses would suggest that this is common, slightly discomforting thanks to all.
Second, Bio Diesel is not a factor.
Third, I have also had one of my pipes come loose on me before due to vibration?
I have spoken now to both LR and a LR specialist and no-one is interested in reconditioning as the labour is not far off the cost of the part. Personally I would rather spend $150 on labour than $380 on parts. If I was a service centre I know which one pays the wages.
As you all can see from the diagram it appears serviceable. I am going to get some gaskets (expect at least 2 removal / re-installs) and then get into it somehow. WITH PHOTOS if I remember.

Dont think I paid quite $380,(non dealer)will have to find the rec.
But had a brand new reg which I fitted myself.
Cant understand how those hoses hold pressure,click tap fittings seem a more posative engagement.

We had to replace ours a few months ago. Roverland here in Melb carry them. His price was approx $250 for the part, plus labour. We had to get some other stuff done, so we let him do the lot. I believe it is a mongrel to get at.
If you shop around, there are plenty of places that will sell a new one for under $300.
