it shouldnt have unless they dropped the box to change it in which case its probabley a misaligned linkage. It may be dry and just need lubing on the linkages.
tried using my diff lock on 97 disco today . sand fairly dry at stockton beach . well it didnt work . i had a new clutch put in 2 weeks ago . could this have affected the diff lock ??? . also good fishing at stockton today . schools of salmon 2 foot from the beach .

My bet is somebody left a plug unplugged and not seeing the CDL indicator on the dash Sushiman assumed it wasnt working.
PS I hope you have unlocked it just in case it is a indicator light failure!!!!

Hi MT
Not wanting to HI Jack the post.
Your is all there bing a 2000 the bits should still be in the transfercase. You just need to turn it on/off I built my own CDL acuator, you get double bonus. You can get the choice of traction control/no traction control once you lock the CDL.
Find the acuator on the front output housing of the transfercase,if there is a bolt head there that a 10mm spanner fits on you are in bussiness. If its there, put a spanner on it and turn it,the dashlites will lite up and you are locked.
Do a search,Ive put pics up for what I did, using socket set extensions/uni joints and a handle.
There are also electric activator kits too.
Goodluck

Im probably going to sound like the idiot, as im not sure how the centre diff is locked, but if it is a manual type locking one like the Series 1, the gears may not be aligned, so a little movement forwards or backwards might get the alignment right and should engage then. Could work the same with a different mechanism. The idiot has spoke.....
I was wondering the same thing as I run diff locks I like to keep up to date with tips and problems people have with them if any.Originally Posted by Utemad

yes i was thinking the same as landy andy when the light didnt go on .but when driving it for a couple of hundred metres i realized i wasnt getting the heavier diff lock feel through the steering wheel . thanks
Have a look above where the front propshaft exits the transfercase. The acuator rod bolts on just above, check to see if it was correctly re-fitted whilst the clutch was done.
