No oil in harness yet but

Today i took the cover off the engine and checked the plug at the front of the head for oil and found 53000k's & nothing, i hope this is good but i did find the plastic flex cover over the wires in a few spots around the engine bay, mainly in the hotter spots near the turbo have gone brittle.
Does anyone know of anything i can replace these bad spots with and not get this problem again for a while.

I had this problem and just went to the auto shop and replaced the offending Splittube with some new stuff, but guess what it's brittle again.

    Hi Mark
    MINE TOO!!!!!
I have been meaning to do something with mine. You need something like the covering on the EGR tubing off an XD falcoon 6cyl.
It is made of fibreglass or something similar weaved like them old chinese finger traps we had as kids.
I have a roll of the nylon stuff that is a similar knit thats used for wiring looms.Havent bothered trying it as I dont know what sort of thermal properties it has,but I know many of the earthmoving machines at work have much the same thing all over their motors.
Perhaps Drivesafe or other elecys reading will know how good this stuff is.
