OOOO also i guess when it is primed the drill starts to struggle turning, so would that be how you know it is primed?

    Hi All,

From experience..yes the drill will slow or struggle significantly when pressure is achieved. Pumps can loose prime after sitting extended periods and longer periods can see pump dry out, hence no suction is formed by the wet gears. A mate (ex Rangie mechanic) is having the same issue today. I dropped in my priming tool 1/2 inch pipe (mudguard stays for British bikes) flattened a tad to form a rectangle at one end, (hammer a large screwdriver in that end) a drill jammed in the other, about a foot long. Filling filter and squirting oil in all orifices nearby can also help and is recommended if you don’t get pressure after a few of minutes of drilling. Pack oil pump with with grease or Vaso as full as you can, sealing it again I always a struggle with grease or Vaso all over the place. But my old 3.5 County took the longest to prime, altogether I recon 20 mins of drilling multiple sessions interspersed with panic phone calls.. got pressure just moments before I started slashing wrists.

    regards,
    Russell.
