why overhaul it id bye a good second hand diff it would work out alot cheaper
93 disco would have 10 spline axles like the classic rangie = cheap diffs

Can anyone advise what I should expect to pay for a rear diff overhaul on a 93 Disco which will probably involve a new crown and pinion gears. I'd say the previous owner ran it with salt water in the diff for a while as the first few oil changes I carried out showed signs of rust.
Starting to get rather noisy now. Really protests if I drive with the front shaft removed.
Thanks

I'll back rangieman on that a good second hand diff, preferabley an ex front diff, is the go..
pity you didnt pipe up while I was stuck in perth not able to go out and about, IF youd gotten the parts Ida done the rebuild for nada I was that bored occasionally
just out of curiosity why the hell are you removing the front shaft anyway?
If your doing that why not just swap the front and rear diffs?

I was chasing a drive line vibration, is worse around 60 k's, bloody annoying. Turned out to be the front shaft. I was advised by someone on this forum that a double cardin shaft and transfer box front output flange of a D2 will fit and cure the problem. Once I get the $'s I'll probably do it.
This is the result of doing a 4 inch suspension lift and radius arm bushing mod.
