Put the other wheels back on...![]()

After changing the wheels on my Defender with a high lift jack, I have developed a squeek in the rear shock spring area. The springs seem to be seated properly on both sides, and the bushes on the shocks seem o.k. Does elevating the vehicle with a high lift jack damage the shocks? I am one that hates squeeks, and rattles when driving, so this is driving me nuts. What should I check? How to fix?
Thanks,
Ken

lift it up again and check the seating of the spring again..
it may have shifted within it seat and is now rubbing on the side of the seat where it wasnt before..
Its the only thing I can think of and it should be revealed by scuffing on the spring near the seat.
if thats it the remedy is to lift the chassis. compress the spring a little and wind some bike tubing onto it.
if you dont have spring compressors. thread some 6mm rope around the springs coils take a dozen turns on the front and rear of the spring.. then go load up that side, tighten the rope up and cinch it off. unload and then jack up the chassis..
