I am absolutely certain that the County airconditioning system comes from the UK - it is described and pictured in the UK owner's handbook, not in the Australian supplement. I can believe that it works well when everything is working properly, but I have yet to encounter one that is, although my experience with this system is very limited (e.g. my failure to recognise the panel as original - I should have looked at my owner's manual!) There are two problems with the system - you lose the vents, and there are too many things that can go wrong and cause ineffective cooling without showing total failure, such as heater not turning off for example.

One problem I have with my County is that even without factory airconditioning I get a lot of problems with hot air coming through the firewall - all sorts of unexpected holes and leaks.

The standard A/C works really well in a mates '88 County, but in other than a pristeen County, the system utilising inefficient vacuum ducting and a small evaporator that requires fan cooling for such a large area in volume, is never going to work as well as your average modern runabout. Especially if you note where the guts are mounted!. But bear in mind, it is 20 odd years old. I would be surprised if it was not an Australian fitted/modified option, why would they need it in Pomieland?.
