    300tdi Fuel Pump Tweeked Stage 1

    righto;
    Now some of you tech heads may be interested to hear about the phase 1 tweeking of 300tdi Bosch VE Fuel Injection pump, After popping of the Cap with a small screw driver Without much effort , taking care to avoid disturbing the Torx Screw, I now had access to Lock-nut and with a 13 m socket I turned the lock-nut CCW to enable the Torx Screw to be turned CW without trying to disturb the Torx Screw ,this was not possible , the Torx Screw was turning with the Lock-nut at the same time ? mmm what next , I tapped the Lock-nut a few time gently trying to loosen lock-nut without loosening torx screw ,but stil made no difference , So I set about doing adjustments in Small turns about 1/4 of turns each time , after about 1 full rotation, I tightened the Lock-Nut , by now th Torx Screw Travelled inwards a bit and it now was time to test out the adjustment made to off-Idle and low Boost driveability , I took the car for a Drive ,an immidiate and noticeable improvement was noted , the vehicle is a lot more willing in 0-1800 RPM performance and Boost builds up a bit quicker ( could anyone seconds that ?) This was apparent Just Looking at the Boost Gauge , Found a Hill and Stopped , in 1st gear started off climbing and it still feels there is a small Lag and car still feels sluggish ,when just moving off idle , Now I drove back home and Made further adjustments , after several adjustments and test Drives , I was quite happy with the End result, However the car does Tend to create a little bit of black Smoke.

    Next is Phase 2 , but Pyrometer will be on order shortly once I get the Clutch Done.

    Ian And Annette are in Tas at the moment, and we caught up with them last week. If you get the chance to meet them, fantastic couple and love their lifestyle and travel. Should be more folk like this.

    Enjoy tweaking.
