    Clutch or Gearbox 1998 Defender

    hello everyone+
my 98 defender has done 150k, and when taking off from a stop it shutters when letting the clutch out ,it has alway done this a little bit but has got much worse in the last month or so. i have also noticed a small leak from the slave cylinder but even when the clutch fluid is topped up it still shutters.
    any help would be appricated

    Hi
The thing that used to cause a shudder when taking off is the clutch componants contaminated with oil . Its been a long time since ive seen a contanimated clutch. doesnt sound like gear box.go for the clutch and see what you find.

wot they said, with the possability that it might be a bit of corrosion in the slave /master cylinder but more likely the slave...

since you ahve to pull it off to get the clutch out anyway take the time to strip it down and have a looksee... a sticking throw out bearing can occasionally cause it too if it drags when its coming off. However that will usually also give you delayed engagement... lift foot wait wait wait for it and dump, your away..
